What is MessageDrift?
MessageDrift is a safe, private place for parents separated from their children to leave messages of love, truth, and hope. When a child is ready, they can search by entering both names to find any messages left for them.
-
What’s the difference between sending a message as a guest and creating an account?
Guest: Leave one short message (up to 500 characters) without creating an account. It’s quick and private—but you won’t be able to add more messages or manage it later.
Account: Create unlimited follow-up messages, keep a timeline your child can revisit, and manage messages over time. You can also save a message as a PDF when you need it.
-
What do I get with an account?
- Unlimited follow-ups: add as many messages as you like over time and build a timeline your child can revisit later.
- Manage & delete: view your own messages in one place and delete ones you no longer want kept.
- Status clarity: see if a message is approved, pending, or needs a tweak (when our safety filter flags it).
- Save as PDF: download a tidy PDF copy of a message whenever you need it.
- Profile details: keep your parent/child info up-to-date so messages are easier to find later.
Note: Features may improve over time, but the goal stays the same—help you leave a clear, lasting trail of messages for your child.

Who can see my messages (and why)?
You: If you have an account, you can view and manage the messages you’ve created.
Your child (later): Messages are designed to be easy for your child to find when they’re older—by using simple details (like their name and date of birth) on the “Find a Message” page. This is intentional: it keeps things private now, but discoverable later for the person who matters most.
Not public / not indexed: Messages stay private and won’t show up in search engines. The only way they can be found is if someone enters the correct parent and child names plus the child’s date of birth. This setup makes it simple for your child to find their messages later, but it also means anyone with those details could see them.
Safety reviews: If a message is flagged by the safety filter, an administrator may review it to keep the platform safe. Flagged messages stay hidden from recipients until approved.
Why it works this way: Our mission is to help children find loving messages when the time is right. Keeping messages private by default—but easy to locate later with basic details—balances privacy with future discoverability. It won’t be the perfect fit for every family, but it’s built for long-term, child-friendly retrieval rather than social sharing.
-
Who can see my message?
Only someone who enters both names (yours and your child’s) and your child’s date of birth can view a message. Messages may be reviewed for safety before becoming visible.
-
Will my messages be deleted if I cancel my subscription?
No, your messages will not be deleted if you cancel your subscription.
You will still be able to access your account and view your messages even after your subscription has been cancelled.
-
Is it free?
Your first message includes up to 500 characters free. Creating an account unlocks ongoing features and unlimited follow-ups.
-
Can I change or delete a message?
Right now messages cannot be edited after submission. We’re working on a request process for edits or removal. If you need urgent help, please contact us via Email.
-
What if someone writes something harmful?
Messages are scanned for harmful language. If flagged, they’re hidden until an admin reviews them. We take safety seriously and may restrict access if necessary.
-
What if I need help?
Visit our Support page for helplines and emotional support resources. If you’re in immediate danger, contact local emergency services.
-
Do I need an account?
No account is required to leave a first message or to search. Creating an account is recommended if you want to add follow-ups, manage messages, or keep a long-term timeline.
-
Do you store my personal information?
We store only what’s needed to deliver the service (names, child’s date of birth, and a phone number you choose to include). We do not sell your data.
Read more in our Privacy Policy.
-
What if I forget the exact name I used?
You’ll need to search using the exact names used when the message was created. If you’re unsure, please reach out via Email and we’ll try to help.
